Internship at Creative Use of Technology: Eva shares her experience

Eva interned at Creative Use of Technology from early September 2025 until the end of January 2026. During her internship, she participated in production, design and daily operations in the workshop. In this blog, she talks about what she did, learned and how she experienced her time at CUT.

Introducing

Eva Bastiaansen is 21 years old and comes from Bavel. She is studying Spatial Design at the Rooi Pannen in Tilburg and is now in her third year. In addition to her studies, Eva has been playing soccer fanatically for years: she has been playing for nine years, including at v.v.Bavel and JEKA.

“In me free time I like to do things with friends, like going out to dinner, going to the cinema, a day trip to a nice city or just going out and having drinks.”

Why internship at Creative Use of Technology?

During her training, Eva worked with a laser cutter more and more, but mostly under strict supervision. She was eager to learn how to work with this independently and gain more confidence in the whole process.

In addition, the location appealed to her greatly. Eva lives close to Breda and enjoys coming there. When she walked into Brandpunt, it immediately felt like an inspiring place. It was also important to her that she could make things that tie in with spatial design, which can be done here.

“All in all, plenty of reasons why I chose this internship.”

First impressions

“I really liked the atmosphere right away, I didn’t feel very much the power relations and that only diminished. Everyone addresses each other with ‘you’ and the team works very closely together in 1 office. Therefore, it didn’t feel so fraught and businesslike to me right away. I was also coached well and calmly from day 1, which I really liked, because that made me pick things up quickly and I became independent in many things pretty quickly.”

Projects and work.

During her internship, Eva simply rotated with the daily production operations and spoke with customers. She also collaborated on several B2B orders. For example, she collaborated on a large order of 70 Floating Frames, pasting frames and punching out the cyclist designs. She also collaborated on an order of 50 drinks boards, many of which she sanded and oiled.

She also helped take photos for the social media of Creative Use of Technology and Brand Point. She worked on designs for clients, such as a personalized Floating Frame of a judoka, and made 3 products herself as part of the Creative Challenge. She designed a Floating Frame with the solar system and made two window decorations. She also made small wooden Christmas trees for on the tables at Brand Point.

What surprised her most

What Eva enjoyed most about her internship was working together and having fun with her colleagues. What surprised her most was how quickly she could work independently and how quickly she mastered things.

Her fear of customer contact also changed. “Now I actually enjoy helping customers and doing something good for them.”

What she learned

In terms of content, Eva learned to work with the laser cutter and the program Laserworks, in which she now dares to experiment more. She also became much more familiar with the Illustrator program and gained more insight into the shipping process and what it involves.

“Personally, I have become much more confident about my own projects and also dare to present them better.” She discovered that customer contact was a little less exciting than she thought: “After all, they are also just people who have questions.” And she learned to answer those questions better and better.

The atmosphere at Creative Use of Technology

According to Eva, the atmosphere at CUT is relaxed and open. There is room for conversations that are not just about work and she also felt at ease.

If it is busy, then of course it is less relaxed, but then the team helps each other which then quickly relieves that stress.

Guidance during internship

During her internship, Eva received guidance from different people within the team. In the first week, she learned a lot from colleagues who took her step by step through the workshop and daily operations.

As her internship progressed, she quickly communicated with colleagues around her, and if something remained unclear, she could always ask for additional help. She especially liked the way priorities were prioritized and thought about what was important at the time.

“Overall, I am satisfied with the coaching, because I did learn a lot from everyone.”

In conclusion

We look back fondly on Eva’s internship at Creative Use of Technology. Her commitment, eagerness to learn and presence in the workshop made her a fun and valuable addition to the team.

Thank you Eva for all your help and companionship. We wish you good luck with your studies and are curious to see where your creativity will take you!
